Today the DVSA informed us that they intend to increase the number of available driving tests (hooray, I hear you scream!).
Prior to this the DVSA had only been allowing candidates to book dates for a rolling 6 week period. With examiners only conducting 5 tests a day, instead of the usual 7.
This has now been deemed insufficient due to the exceptional high demand because of COVID-19.
So from Monday 14th September 2020 they are extending the period of available tests from 6 weeks to 18 weeks, which should incorporate test dates right up to the end of January 2021. This will provide candidates with around 375,000 available test appointments, with examiners now conducting 6 tests a day.
Examiners will still be wearing PPE and you will still be expected to wear a face covering for the duration of your test, other than if you have declared a medical reason at the time of booking your test.
Lets be sensible before booking……
The national statistic is still fewer than 50% pass their driving test at the First Attempt! So as a team (driving school and student), we need to be 100% certain that you are at the required standard before we book your test.
If you book your test without consulting your instructor, you could be refused use of the training vehicle and or have an extended wait for that second test!
So PLEASE consult your instructor before booking, and be honest with yourselves when deciding of your actually ready for your driving test!
We as a Driving school are very proud of the Quality Driver Training we provide and the excellent test results we achieve. We share your goal of obtaining that driving licence we just want you to do it preferably at the first attempt!
Any further questions please contact your instructor directly.
