Don’t Get Caught Out by Morden’s Tricky Spots The Morden Driving Test Centre (SM4) is known for a mix of quiet residential streets and busy dual carriageways. Our driving instructors don’t just teach you how to drive; we teach you how to handle these specific local challenges so nothing surprises you on test day.
The “Rose Hill” Roundabout
This is the big one. Located just down the road from the test centre, the Rose Hill roundabout connects the A217 and A297. It features multiple lanes and can be intimidating for learners. We will spend plenty of time here, ensuring you know exactly which lane to be in and how to exit safely towards Sutton or Morden without hesitation.
Tudor Drive (The Test Centre Start)
The Morden Driving Test Centre is located at 10 Tudor Drive.
Important Note: There is no parking for candidates on the test centre grounds.
Our Solution: We will teach you exactly where to park legally on Tudor Drive or the nearby side streets to ensure a stress-free start to your exam. You will also practice pulling out from behind parked cars into potential oncoming traffic—a common start to the test here.
The St Helier Gyratory
If your route takes you past St Helier Hospital, you need to be ready for busy pedestrian crossings, ambulances on blue lights, and a complex one-way system. We will practice this route until you can navigate the gyratory smoothly, maintaining lane discipline even during rush hour.
The A24 Dual Carriageway
ou may be asked to drive onto the A24 (Morden Road/London Road). This requires confident merging at speed and excellent observation skills. We’ll make sure you are comfortable joining fast-moving traffic and understand the speed limit changes that often catch students out.
Manoeuvres in Residential Areas
The residential streets off Cannon Hill Lane and Martin Way are prime spots for examiners to request a parallel park or a “pull up on the right” manoeuvre. These roads can be narrow with meeting traffic situations, so we will ensure your clutch control is perfect for crawling past parked cars safely.
