Free Driving Controls Lesson For NEW Students
Formula Jon Driving SchoolFormula Jon Driving School offers automatic driving lessons in Whyteleafe, CR3. Lessons run seven days a week between 8am and 8pm, starting from home, school or work.
Whyteleafe sits in the Caterham valley, with the A22 Godstone Road running through and steep roads rising on either side. An automatic car keeps gear changes out of the way, so you can focus on pulling away on a hill and controlling your speed going down.
We start on quiet streets, then take you onto the A22 and the hills once you are steady.
You take your practical test at the Mitcham driving test centre, now based at the Hilton Hotel, 101 Waddon Way, Croydon, CR9 4HH, in an automatic car. The drive there brings in faster roads and busier junctions than you will meet around Whyteleafe, so your instructor practises those with you before your test.
Your first lesson is a free car controls session. Its cost comes off your first driving lesson. You learn how the automatic gear selector works and how to move off.
You then practise the test manoeuvres, take mock tests and follow a sat nav. Passing in an automatic gives you a licence for automatic cars only. Refresher lessons are available too.
Automatic lessons in the CR postcodes cost £39 an hour, the same as manual, and £38 an hour on a 10-hour block. Call 07790 779 687 any day from 8am to 8pm to book.

This all depends on the student's driving ability. There is no official minimum number of lessons. Studies cited by DVSA put the average at between 37 and 52 hours with an instructor, plus 13 to 20 hours of private practice.
